Crashing after boot on Ubuntu

Jul 16, 2010 2:23PM PDT

When I first tried Ubuntu (Karamic) on my computer, it would freeze after login and the screen resolution would be atrocious. When I used Wubi to try Lucid Lynx, the installer hanged.

When using Karamic, a good majority of the time, audio would start skipping, and Caps and Scroll Lock would flash. The only time it would work is when it said that a problem in the kernel has occurred (ironic, isn't it).

System Configuration:

Asus A8N-VM CSM
Dual 250 GB SATA Hard Drives
1 GB of RAM
Currently running Windows 7 Home Premium

Thanks.

How old is that version?

Time to try the latest?

I see some complaints about Karamic so I'd pass that version.

Well

I was running a Windows 7/XP Dual Boot at the time Lucid came out, so I used Wubi to not erase any information. The installer crashed and rebooted back to the Windows Boot Loader, so I did try Lucid.

I use the old boot from CD or USB methods. With those methods I don't have to install and it runs fine. Just running the latest version of Ubuntu with no issues.
