Cracked hinges on Dell 700m

Sep 22, 2005 5:52AM PDT

I have a Dell 700m which I bought 4 months back. I have no idea how it happened but a couple days back I noticed a crack on the top lid near one of the hinges. Do I have to replace the entire the lcd screen or just replace the cover. How do I go about doing this? I scoured the Dell website but couldnt find any tutorial that tells me how to go about it. Any information on this would be great. Thanks in advance.

replace cover only

You should be able to replace 1/2 the cover (they are usually 2 or more pieces). If you don't see a part number at support.dell.com then call them to get it. If the laptop is only 4 months old then it should be covered under the standard Dell warranty.

Michael

Call it in. Many think they can solve this just by web or email. The phone will work better.
