Question

CPU Upgrade

Mar 12, 2017 1:48PM PDT

I have an HP Envy DV6-7213nr. I have been considering upgrading the cpu to a faster one, but I am not sure what is compatible with my motherboard. I currently have the AMD A4 4300m installed. I was considering either the A8 4500m or the A10 4600m. Does anyone know if either of these can be used, and if so would they make a noticeable difference in performance. I have already added 4gb of RAM to the system and have a Samsung SSD waiting to be installed.

I've looked at those before.

The CPU was soldered to the mainboard. What article, service manual or such gave you hope you could install another CPU?

In short, CPU upgrades in close to 98% of laptops is not possible for this and other reasons.

I have watched several videos on the removal and installation of the cpu on youtube. The videos are of the same model and series as mine and the cpu is removable. It is held into the socket with a lock screw.
