Yup. Too brief.

What application and the "error message" would be required to converse about this.

Im not sure exactly what u need to help..my screen began to freeze up along with my mouse. Maybe a few days later i couldnt do anything on here at all so i shut it off. Then started messing with it, to see if it would work, and it turned on again. NOw when i go thru the memory run down in the beginning of start up, i get this message that says cpu unworkable or has been changed..i can log on to windows by hittin f1 and choosing which log on..normal safe..ect..then i did a drwatson run, which told me one of the components in a security app i ran changed files in windows, and so i removed it, but now im not sure what to do, if system restore may work, or if the cpu just got fried from overheating or something. Did that make it any better? Ha ha..sorry like i said im kinda new at this. And just tryin to see if i can fix it.

Well, does the computer still run

the Operating system now, or doesn't it boot, or what.

Can you get into the BIOS to make certain that the settings for the memory [which also affect the CPU] haven't changed due to some glitch?.

If the system is still running, the security file may have gotten hit by a virus or spyware or.

My understanding is that if Dr Watson is offered it is due to a problem with something running at the kernel level, [very important level software that has great control of the system]. Possibly the file simply got corrupted and a restore or reinstall is needed. ME handles such things differently than the other OP Sys.

The helpers need to know [not this writer because I know not ME], although I am me. LOL What type of system make and model, do you have a restore/recovery CD or do you have the actual ME CD. These things are needed to know!!! Systems such as Gateway, Dell, ompaq, HP , E-systems are usually supplied with [some cases must buy, or burn them to a CD [too late for that] restore CD's which make it easy to restore/repair the system.

My post is only hoping to have you provide enough useful information so sharp guys such as Robert can help you.

Not in the least bit irritating to me.

I figure that's why I read the posts. If they annoyed me, I would find something better to do.

Now, Robert is a Moderator in many of the forums and in that role basically has to read each and every post, whether interested or not. He has so much help to give, but can't take the time to beg each and every thread in order to be able to give an intelligent reply. After a while it has to get to him.

It really would make things better if everyone would start off by providing the info and a complete story to begin with. Example, if I didn't ask you I wouldn't know whether the computer was still working or not. That is such an important piece of information. In time you'll learn to see it from our side and give the info, that you know, but we don't.

In your case, you still have not provided the exact wording of the CPU message. During the boot, if you want to stop the screen just hit the pause key, and it will stop and give you time to read the message.

With the sytem running fully, I think that replacing the processor would be unwarranted. Let's try to solve the problem.

Possibly a bad shutdown caused the system to default the CPU bus settings for protection. Possibly you can go into the BIOS and reset them.

Don't give up.

I think that's the nugget worth repeating.

Just like a mechanic, you have to know if you are working on what model Ford, Chevy, or a horse buggy. How many times has a person taken a car in and said "it makes a sound." What happens next is a lot of questions and maybe the mechanic takes it out on the road.

Here, I can't see the machine. You have to be my eyes and ears and write far more than you ever imagined.

Not a message from the OS.

You have a hardware failure you'll need to get fixed.

Sadly, nothing about your hardware is in your posts. I can't begin to guess about this one.
