Question

CPU to Pair with Gaming Computer

Jan 1, 2016 2:26PM PST

I built a gaming computer for Christmas, and the processor I have is nowhere near sufficient, so I need to change it out. Seeing as my previous choice was a bust, I thought I'd consult a forum.

My motherboard s a Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H socket FM2+. My video card is a Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit interface. My memory is a HyperX Fury 8GB 288-Pin DDR4. I am looking for a processor under $80.

With sales, Ebay and more it's simply too fluid a search. Get the CPU Compatibility link handy for your motherboard version and BIOS then start shopping.

Try to get into a quad core and a new HSF too.

Good Idea, but...

I have a SSD that I'm returning that I got from amazon, so I'll get store credit for that, and I plan on using the store credit to buy the processor.

Still too fluid a request.

You'll want to have that CPU compatibility list then search for what you think is best on Amazon till you find what's available. This is work I think only you can do.

If you find yourself needing to compare CPUs, I use this site: CPUBOSS.com
