CPU Problems Using Yahoo Messenger With Broadband

by jannie / November 8, 2003 3:49 PM PST

I have a AMD Athlon (tm) XP 1800+, 1.53 GHz, 512 MB of Ram, Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002 Service Pack 1. I just purchased Direcway Satellite Broadband and now when I try to run my Yahoo Messenger my CPU zooms to 100%. I have tried deleting and then reloading Messenger which was suggested by Yahoo HELP several times. This had no effect. Any ideas to try??? I really don't want to lose my Yahoo messenger...thanks

have you scanned for a virus? have you talked to your ISP and verified that all the network settings are correct? have you scanned for spyware?

I have the exact same problem, maybe worse it's taking up to 96% and when I close the messenger, the ypager.exe is still running and there is nomore icon on the taskbar. I have a brand new hardrive. I reinstalled windows XP from the scratch.

you need to contact Yahoo tech support. i don't think the program is needed. all it does is run the tray icon for Yahoo Messenger. you might update versions of the program too.
