CPU losing speed?

Sep 22, 2006 12:01AM PDT

I have an AMD Athlon 3200+ Barton core cpu running Windows XP pro. Recently I noticed the bios was registering it as an Athlon 1900+. I ran various tests and all software is seeing it as a 1900+, including Device Manager. I installed the latest bios but nothing has changed. Has anyone got any ideas please?

Double check the BIOS FSB setting.

When you first built the machine you probably had to set some speed in the bios. Time to check it.

Thanks, I did, it is 200MHz which appears to be correct. I also checked the jumpers on the mobo. The pc used to be perfect and I have no idea what has gone wrong, is it the cpu?

Try to remember how it worked for the Athlons.
