Just install audio drivers perfectly according to your current system status.
This will surely solve your problem.

Re: Realtek HD Audio
Jul 24, 2017 1:59AM PDT

On my Windows 10 PC I find Realtek HD Audio Configuration as a Control Panel applet (it's not under Sound, but it's it's own applet starting with R, so a little bit higher in the alfabetic list).
Isn't it there with you?

Check drivers version

Just check that the drivers version you are using is compatible with your system or not. By the way, is it windows 8 or windows 10?

- Can you explain what you mean with "is fine" if apparently it isn't?
- Open the case and check the connection of the cable from the jack to the motherboard. Is that all fine also?
- The obvious workaround is a 10$ USB audio 'card' connected to one of your front USB ports (if those are connected ...)

A little history lesson.

Up until a few years ago, detection of something plugged into audio jacks was not available.

If your hardware supports it, the driver from the laptop or motherboard maker is required to enable this.

- You're sure you installed all Windows 10 drivers after upgrading?
- It stopped working the exact day of your upgrade?

Re: apps menu

Whatever the apps menu is, it's unlikely to contain a driver. And what is a "driver manager"?

Moreover, audio should work with the driver that comes with Windows (although it might offer less options). If it works on the audio on the backside, I don't think it's a audio driver issue. So as a work around, use that, possibly with an extender cable, so it's easier to reach.

It's not in the Start menu, it's in Control Panel. Easy to find if you list the applets alphabetically and look at R.
And note that a driver isn't a manager.
