Why not wire the fan to a power supply such as on some USB port (such pin outs are well documented) and then it will run all the time.
I read you don't want to have it fixed so you'll have to do it yourself or talk an engineering friend into doing the work.
My laptop's CPU fan has stopped working completely, when I start up the laptop they spin for 2-3 seconds and then turn off again. With my external cooler and my room temperature I'm able to keep the temperature below 50 but only if I have close to no programs running and on power saving.
Please don't just tell me to go get it repaired because it will cost me a lot of money because the warranty ran out (Of course if there's nothing else to do I will have to go get it repaired).
