CPU Fan doesn't work????

Jul 20, 2004 4:54PM PDT

I just bought a new graphics card and a new CPU P4 3.0Ghz with hyper threading. anyways i installed the new hardware (my motherboard supports the proccessor) turned it on and wanted to check the graphics card out and got playing a game and about 10 mins later my pc shut down. i tried turning it back and it wouldn't. took the cover off and noticed that the heatsink was pretty hot. i let it cool down for a while and tried turing it back on. well my cpu fan doesn't work now and my computer runs at very high temps. and i don't know whats wrong with the fan. its all plugged in and everything. any ideas???

Is the CPU FAN plugged in?

If not, please plug it in.

I hope you don't run it this way for long. It's burning up the days it will work at a some 10 times faster than it should if you are running it without the fan!

it is plugged in. i tried both the fan plug ins on the mother board and neither one turns on the fan. i don't run it that much just to test the fan out for about 5 mins then i turn it off and give up. plus i put the old proccessor back in just incase something does happen to it.

Mine stopped working a little while ago too. Somehow, the screws from the CPU fan to the heatsink were too tight. I don't know what caused it since I had my computer for 3 years before with no problems, but, coincidentally, I had just installed a new video card. Weird... Well, just try loosening the screws a little bit, and see if it works. Happy
