Cowon iAudio U3 2GB doesn't play public library eAudiobook

The eAudiobook files (WMA format, with DRM, requires Microsoft Playsforsure compatibility) that I download from the public library in my village do not play on Cowon iAudio U3 2GB audio player. The player is listed as Playsforsure-compatible in the Playsforsure web site. All the steps of downloading that are described in detail in the library's web site have been correctly followed. I bought the player a few days ago. It came with firmare 1.23. I upgraded it to the most recent version, which is 1.26b.
I would appreciate for help.

There's a lot of that going on out there. Seems like a warranty situation to me.

Cowon and audiobooks

Their players aren't designed for large files (over 2 hours of spoken word). My i5 will play those books, but the time counter and resume functions don't work, so I have had to set a bookmark manually for each session, and I have no idea where I was in the book without "cheating" by learning the number of chapters beforehand, etc. For downloaded audiobooks, my Creative Zen Nano plus works fine with NetLibrary (counter chugs along swell and resumes exactly where the book left off) and Overdrive (Cowon has a very slight edge with that format, but not much) library download books; moreover, the Zen plays Audible.com format (should you choose to get any from them) whereas Cowon doesn't.
Cowon players are much better for music than books I'd say. BEFORE YOU RETURN your unit, set up the JetAudio and JetShell software on your PC! The JetAudio CD-ripper has a small box you can tick "Rip CD as a single track" which is a godsend for ripping audiobooks from CD's. That way an 8-CD library book would be 8 files rather than nearly 200!
Hope that helps.

I don't know about the Cowon, U3 but

the Netlibrary files DO have to be opened on your computer in WMP before you transfer them to your portable player. The license doesn't download with the file, you don't aquire the license until you open the file for the first time and you must have an internet connection available for that to happen. Also, you do have to sync the Netlibrary file with your player thru WMP in order for the license to transfer to your portable player. You can't just drag and drop it. If you have already taken these steps and the file just won't play on the Cowon U3, then it probably is the player.
