hi,ken110991,there are two logical possiblities:
One is that the .m4a song is drm-free so that it's very simple for you to process ,such as using freeware converter WinFF.if you want to know more about detailes ,please refer to this http://www.ehow.com/how_5755821_convert-m4a-wma-winff.html
Another possiblities,if you try to convert m4a to wma by some video converter,and then iTunes doesn't let you to convert it ,it means that the .m4a is under drm protection and can't play these music on the other portable player except ipod and iphone. so what you can do is to unprotect itunes music here is a tutorial about how to remove drm from m4a for your reference
