Couple of questions for XP

by CoreyP / January 19, 2006 2:00 PM PST

First of all i use Firefox 1.5 if that matters.

1) I dont know what I did but im getting a message in the bottom right saying my computer is infected with spyware and to install the latest update SP2 but I cant cause i cant validate my XP. And every time i reboot i get a message that stays on the deskstop saying "SPYWARE INFECTION" and to download a spyware remover. Does anyone know a good FREE spyware remover/popup blocker I can download to stop this. I use to use Microsoft Antispyware with 2K but i cant now cause i cant validate XP. Its slowing down my computer, opens random pages NON STOP.

2)Why does XP keep rebooting itself?

3)How do I stop certain progs such as AIM and RealPlayer from starting with windows? Ive set them to not do that in their respective program but they start every time anyways.

These are just a few of the many problems im having right now. Ill be back with more questions later. I mainly want to know how to get this Spyware infection off and how to stop it from coming back...that and pop ups.

Please answer these questions cause this is driving me nuts. Once i get these main problems fixed ill have some more questions for you XP guys and gals. Thanks so much!!

I was using a pirated copy of 2K and could download all the SP's. Im not so concerned about the SP for XP. I just would like suggestions on some good adware/spyware/popup blocker programs. Thats all I want. Thanks for the help guys.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
