General discussion

Couple of general questions for Lee Koo

Jan 2, 2005 4:02AM PST

1) I am not at my regular desktop. When I click on your (or any moderator's) e-mail link, this machine tries to go to an invalid e-mail program. I could easily cut and paste your actual e-mail address to my online account, but the link only gives me your name, not your actual address. Ergo, I can't get to you by e-mail using this machine. Any chance of having the moderators' actual e-mail addresses on dislay, or at least cut-and-pastable, for occasions such as this?

2) Can I change the e-mail address for my account? There is no place to do that in the "change profile" page. I am changing IP services, so my e-mail address will necessarily change. I want to keep this same user name and not just create a whole new account. Can this be done by a special override by you?

Oh, and a third question
Jan 2, 2005 4:11AM PST

For the past couple of months, when I view this forum in Netscape, the left margin is off my screen and there is substantial lost text. It's OK in IE. Can this be fixed, or am I the only Netscape user left in the universe?

Me too

I use Netscape 7.0 (got used to the right clk options, they changed positions in version 7.2) and I also have text off the left, which is one reason I come here now only when I'm not doing anything else since I use the Netscape browser for all other things.

The problem is the html coding on the pages, matching no standard, although Transitional 4.01 is now most commonly used. This particular problem may be caused by lack of a proper left margin statement in the coding, which is needed for Netscape. If they have someone add or correct the margin statements, the problem may be solved. Here is also something that might cause the problem, the line numbers are given too. When page is centered, but wider than someone's screen view settings, then this may put the left margin out of sight.

129: <div align="center">
130: <div class="stretch">

To view this problem of HTML coding mishmash, run different CNET pages through this validator.

http://validator.w3.org/

This is a forum front page run through the validator, since the help.com page doesn't have the problem.

Is Lee Koo on vacation? Is somebody ever going to post an answer to these questions?

As for the Netscape issue... I'm using 7.2 and I don't see the issue that you or James are stating, I'm stumped here...
