Could my laptop upgrade to Windows Vista?

Sep 27, 2005 2:37AM PDT

When Windows Vista comes out at (hopefully) the end of next year, would I be able to upgrade my current new laptop?

Toshiba Satellite M55-S325
1.73GHz Alviso Pentium M
512MB DDR333 SDRAM
128MB integrated graphics

I don't care so much for the "Aero" effects, I just want the new functionality.

In short, since there is no Vista to test the laptop....

Then no one can tell you with any authority if it will be OK.

Since it's another year away, why not just wait it out?

According to Michael Dell, he says his XPS systems will be VISTA CAPABLE. LOL. He says it will require at least 256MB of GDDR3 ram for gfx card to run the effects, doubt your notebook can match that, even i don't have that in my desktop. ALso, he says of lots of ram, at least 1GB? Windows XP requires 512MB to run nicely. 64-bit would be nice, but i believe there would be 32-bit variants. Most likely, you should be able to upgrade, but don't expect it to run nicely as the notebook wasn't originally designed for vista support or vista capable, or w/e.

Of course...

Maybe with a slightly lower graphics requirement, as I've got integrated graphics memory, I expect the machine to run at a moderate pace.

I plan to get a new desktop a few months after Vista's arrival, and if I feel like it, I might as well keep my laptop running XP.

My course.

While the office supplies me a nice r4000 64-bit laptop, the plans are to move to a future MacTel 64.

that I (that I read accidently at a waiting lounge), it said that there will be 2 version coming out 32bit and 64bit. It says that most likely (almost for sure) the one that support 32bit will be the majority and will have because that's what most people can use first with their current 32bit support processor. Those who pick the 64bit version will have problem because other hardwares (printer etc) will take their time to adjust to be able to support it.

Does that mean that we need new driver for all the hardware if we chose the 64bit version?
