Question

couchtuner.com

Jul 10, 2014 10:52AM PDT

I have been trying to get onto this webpage and it says I needed a new version of media player but when I try to do this I get this window saying this is adware generic wants to protect me by removing this threat. I know other people who have this website with no problems. I need to know if this really is a threat or is AVG extra careful. Thank you, Lorelee

https://twitter.com/couchtuner seems to update and well, use their support as bad as it is.

Any yes, many of these have you install dangerous, infected viewers. But hey, your machine and risk.

Thanks for the advice. Not sure I want to risk my computer. I need to think this over but would love to be able to see shows I can not get on our cable system. Lorelee

Answer
adware at couchtuner
Jul 23, 2014 1:27PM PDT

I love couchtuner! But NEVER click on the update media player or anything else. Go to the spot that says HOW to use this site. It will tell you when you pick the show, you are to click on the words-- "Play this here" or something like this. They will never ask you to sign up or update or give a credit card or email. You just pick a streaming site (those little tabs above the show) the first one always works for me. Then you click the little blue diamond in the center to play the show. If you get redirected you did something wrong, just back out one time and hit the right spot. But they have clear instructions there. Every site you go to for movies or shows that tells you to update your media player or java or anything else is adware of some kind. Never load it. Always go to the direct site to load or go into your windows program to update etc. If you did do it already you just will want to go to computer and uninstall media player (not windows media player) just media player. then use a free adware removal I used from tech support and they will get all the little tidbits out. Listen to your computer when it says you should not load something. ALSO because I love couchtuner, I will tell you that for some reason I have a hard time getting past the adware in IE but in Firefox it seems to have no trouble. If I get it I clean it out and it doesn't show up. It always shows up in IE. Lately I have not even been able to click on the middle diamond to play the show in IE. Hope this helps on many levels. This works for any site. This is the only site I use for a tv show unless it is not there. There is no commercials. For movies we go to megashare.cc my son uses movietube.cc but I don't trust it and it always has too new of movies so you know that they are not out yet. The couple of times I looked it had movies someone recorded at the theatre or an Asian version.

Couchtuner...not for me
Oct 26, 2015 11:29AM PDT

I was going to give couchtuner a try....got a pop-up window saying "Sorry, you cannot watch content as guest. Please continue to create free account".

I don't know all the inter-relationships that might exist between websites, so I just "followed my nose"... I continued, and was taken to Donna Play, which heralded a headline "Watch your favorite movies and TV shows for free"....

Undaunted, I pressed on...turns out Donna Play it is a website in Mauritius, they want a dollar for a free trial, and apparently a monthly subscription after that....

At this point, I would advise to steer clear.

Answer
To use Couchtuner.....you MUST use Adblock

I've been using Couchtuner ever since I cut cable. It's an outstanding source of shows.

The one thing you've got to prepare for, however, is the deluge of ads. There is one program I can guarantee you will clean up Couchtuner (and everything else) 100%: that's AdBlock.

Do your own Google search for "adblock" yourself or go here:

https://getadblock.com/share/

It's free but once you use it you'll go back and donate a voluntary contribution just as I did. Adblock works wonders and is safe as the day is long. It really shines in Couchtuner because there will be zero intrusions into the main screen.

Good luck!
