General discussion

costco and samsung

Feb 3, 2009 9:25PM PST

What's up with their relationship? Would
like to see them offering better selection.
Was a long term sony fan until 2006 when
i bought my 1st samsung. Tough decision back
than to break from sony. Own 3 samsungs now,
52", 32", and 26".

mamontano, Thanks for the kind words.

I'm not sure how to address that issue, but the limited selection is how our relationship is for the time being.

winniepoah, the LN32A540 has a swivel stand.

ln32a540 from costco
Feb 5, 2009 9:05PM PST

I like it very much. I originally had
bought a 26" sharp from costco due to
budget reasons but didn't like it very
much. The channels would change real slow,
menu was weak, alot of flashlighting, very
low volume and it was too small for my viewing
distance. I kept going by costco to decide what i
should trade it in for. I compared 32" vizio,
32" sharp, and of course the 32" samsung.
They were all side by side playing the same
thing. The detail was just better than the
others so i went for it. I have mine hooked
up to straight cable (cox) and the channels
changed just fine, the volume was good, and it
has a channel list button on the remote. Very
important if you don't have a cable box. It will
give me years of enjoyment because it has a bzillion
picture adjustments to play with but you can just
use the standard settings if you like - they work
fine. Hopefully this helps. If costco would have
had a 37" i would have bought it but it's just
a bedroom tv. Maybe i should just get glasses.

samsung tech - ln32a450 versus ln32a540
Feb 5, 2009 9:31PM PST

I think i had told you the only difference
between the 2, that i knew of, was the panel.
Maybe the samsung tech could shed some light
on the differences between the 2 to help you
with your decision. I know the ln32a540 is
not 1080p, mistake on samsung website. From
what cnet says it's no big deal at this screen
size.

good luck

I'm going to get another 1 if they
still have them. I checked 1 costco
about a week ago and they didn't have
it. This was the busiest 1 in the area
so hopefully i can find it at another
1. Wedding gift to my younger brother.
Side by side comparison at samsung's website
says something about "ultra clear panel"
(no on 540) and (yes on 450). Anyway - enjoy.
