Costa Rica bound - which camera???

Oct 22, 2004 2:28AM PDT

Hola everyone. My husband & I are moving to Costa Rica for 2 yrs. I'm looking at 4MP digi. cameras. Must have great macro mode, use AA or rechargeable batteries. no more than $350. 5 x 7 will probably be the largest photo size I'll need, maybe 8 x 11 for a few good macro taken pictures.

Last time we were there I tried to capture a troop of white-faced capuchin monkeys up in the trees, and they looked like black dots.. Is there a digi. camera out that can zoom in farely far away or can have a better zoom lens attached?

thank you very much for any input!!!

Actually, I'm leaning toward a fixed lens camera. Suggestions?

I find two that fit your description (almost).

You want to photgraph monkeys in trees, you need one of the 10X zoom cameras.

The Konica-Minolta DiMAGE Z2 uses AA batteries, but the price from a reliable source will be $365 and $6.50 shipping..

The Kodak DX6490 comes with rechargeable batteries and charger (not AA). The price from a reliable source will be $350 and $6.50 shipping.
