Police say whoever made the recording mispronounced Haverhill, and that's how they knew it was a scam. Police are warning people not to give out any personal information

And IF they pronounced it correctly?

Give the personal information?

If THEY phoned I'd be suspicious.

Most financial institutions say/advertise they never ask for personal information (unless YOU initiate the call).

Sort of like (H)Averill Harriman.

Now before becoming all smug and complacent, pronounce Versailles, Pennsylvania. Or Pattiswick, Essex, England.

Food is offtopic for pronunciation!
spelt - Definition
[spĕlt]
(n.) A hardy wheat grown mostly in Europe.

It's more fun if I ignore the rest:
(v.) A past tense and a past participle of spell

There's a hard-core writer for The Nation named Alexander Cockburn. He's the only one I've ever known of. A couple of actors and others named Coburn, of course.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
