Correct Cables for Harddrive and CD/DVD Burner

Mar 5, 2009 6:47PM PST

Hi I'm new here. First time I'm building a PC. Soon I'm gonna order the items/parts but don't know the right cables I'll need for my Harddrive and CD/DVD burner.

This is the CD/DVD burner I'll be getting:

LITE-ON Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW DVD Burner - OEM

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106281

And the Harddrive:

HITACHI Deskstar P7K500 HDP725050GLA360 (0A35415) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145215

What will be the right cables for them? If you can please give me a link to them on newegg's website so that I'll order them. Thanks.

the burner takes a standard IDE flat cable and the HD takes a SATA cable.

you havn't said what motherboard you are getting, so before purchasing that dvd burner which is ide, make sure that the motherboard you are getting has an ide connector on it.
Some new boards no longer have them, it may pay to play it safe and get one with a sata connection, it shouldn't cost any more.
