Copying music and photos from iPod to PC

Mar 7, 2006 4:02AM PST

Hello I hope someone can help me. I would like to know what is the best way to copy music and photos from iPod to PC. Is it better to use a software download like CopyPod or to change the iPod into disc mode? What is the best software to use? Thank you very much for your help.

Since the content is already on the PC, why would I need to do this?

Authorizing both machines. You can also use the disk drive mode to copy off one machine to the next.

Since all this is native, I always wonder why one would pay for this.

Anapod, copypod, etc.

Some are pay programs. I won't investigate which and which are not, but given the native tools, I don't see why I would use them.

I totally understand your point. I am on the same page. I just wanted to know if I was crazy for thinking, why use a program when you can do it with out. The native way is not the easiest for someone that is not comfortable with computers. I guess, I could see why they would want to use a program. The native way, the songs are not very easy to find which is which with out playing them first, but who cares once you've played them they go right into your library. Thank you for your assistance.

http://www.uneasysilence.com/how-to-backup-your-windows-itunes/ notes the one directory and 2 files I could drag to some USB hard disk (iPod?) and then carry that off. If it doesn't fit in one go, then I could use a file slicer or such to move it piecemeal.

You're right that going native is sometimes not the easiest but as fast as such softwares come and go I have to stop looking and get it done.

Thanks for the reply and hope this helps.

How to transfer music????
Mar 8, 2006 12:16PM PST

I didn't understand much of the ongoing conversation, so I'll pose my question in hopes of clarifying the answer.
Scenario: I have an ipod. My sister wants to add a few of the songs from my ipod to her itunes library on her laptop. How do I do that?

That is not supported. But you may know that.

iTunes doesn't do that. The simple reason is that if one could do that then there would be no copy controls and the music industry would not allow sales via iTunes.
