like what CDROMs you have -
you sure you are copying to the right unit and that it is a burner??
Also see if both units are listed in device manager and that you have DMA selected.
Also check that you have the master/slave pins set correctly.
Unless you tell us about your hardware (as requested in red) or a little bit about what you have done to maybe fix the problem we cant be of much help.

There shouldn't be any problem to copy a file from a cd to the hard disk. This will make the file on the hard disk read-only, so if you want to change it, you must uncheck that option.
And there shouldn't be any problem to burn one or more files from the hard disk to a cd with a burning program, even if they are read-only.
There even shouldn't be any problems to do the same with a file from another cd, provided you have both a reader and a burner.
And some burner programs have a copy-whole-cd function, that even works if you use don't have a separate reader but use the same drive to first read then write.

Tell more about your hardware, what you want to do and how you do it, and what exact problems you encounter.

Roxio,Nero, and the one I use Clone can just copy that CD.Simply putting the software in CD-ROM or DVD Rom drive and blank CD-R disc in burner drive and using said program you just copy that music ,files,VCD disc.
