Resolved Question

copying email addresses in Live Mail folders

Nov 15, 2013 10:12PM PST

How do I copy email addresses in specific folders within Windows Live Mail? I have tried to "export" the specific folder and instead I get the entire DB.

I just need to copy from a specific folder without "sending" the address to the address holder.

Frustrating! Why did we loose Outlook Express?
I have many issues with Live mail!!!!

How do you mean "copy the addresses in a specific folder". Addresses are in the address book or in a mail, not in a folder. And to which destination do you want to copy them.

Many users of Outlook Express, disappointed by its successors Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail, turn to Thunderbird, an email client from Mozilla. Did you try it already?

copying an email address i Live mail
Nov 17, 2013 7:30AM PST

In outlook express I have many folders that I made to hold the various members of a Club or Unit. Then when I mass mail, I just click on a particular folder or tow or more and the email are sent to just those persons and none of the over over 1,000 addresses.

No I have not tried any other client as I now have to go to "log me in" and use the business computer that is already set up for Live Mail. I cannot make any changes to the business computers.

However, I need the capability of copying specific email address or addresses and send to others.
I cannot do this with Live mail! It either exports the entire DB or nothing.

Before I could highlight a particular address and right click to copy and them paste it in word or another email and send it to the person(s) that asked for it.

This is the continuing problem with Live mail!

Trust I explained this correctly to you.

Answer
You can go to the Contacts folder & export or copy

When in WLM, go to the lower left corner & click on Contacts. Then you can export the whole list or copy an individual address. WLM takes a little getting used to but it works well for me. The only thing that frustrates me is the ribbons, but I've gotten used to them. If you want a different email client, you could try Thunderbird.

Copying from Win Live Mail
Nov 17, 2013 7:36AM PST

Thanks for the reply wpg!!!

However, in WLM, I click on contacts, highlight an address, right click on the address and I have three (3) choices:
Send Email
Copy Contact to: ( and it brings up my entire list I have in many folders as stated before), or
Delete contact
There is nothing that allows me to copy the contact and paste in anything, Word, WP, Another email or even Notes!

See what I am saying? If I export the entire DB, what does that do for me?
I merely want to copy 1, 3, or 5 email addresses and paste them into an email or document>

Thank again for the reply and HELP!!

I just tried it - it works for me just fine for me.

I bring up WLM & click on Contacts. I then click on one of them in the left pane, and the details are displayed in the right pane. I right-click the address in the right pane, then click COPY. Works fine for me.
