Copying AVI movie file into iTunes problem

Oct 20, 2007 3:46AM PDT

Mac OS X version 10.4/iTunes version 7.4
Hi, I know this sounds trivial, but I am trying to drag an AVI movie into the Movies section of iTunes so that I can sync it with my iPod video nano, but the green plus sign doesn't show up to indicate I can drap and drop in into the Movies section of iTunes. Am I missing some codec component or something? Please help me out!!

It's probably encoded "oddly."

That is, it's in some unsupported format. Look up handbrake to convert it.

i really don't understand what the difference between format is,i thought it was the extension .avi, but i guess that's not enough for the video to work. But I'll take your advice and try out Handbrake, thx!

handbrake issue
Oct 20, 2007 4:19AM PDT

Hi, I just downloaded HandBrake and when I opened it, I chose the AVI movie file I wanted, but it shows Source: No Valid Title Found. What do I do? Sorry, I'm not very technical.

Next up is Flip4Mac.

It's another tool to convert stuff.

No technical knowledge is really needed. Just to know that just like audio comes in different encodings so does video. There are no standards so when you get an .AVI it can be some hundred plus methods of encoding.

Since you didn't share the source web link of the .AVI (hope it's not copyrighted!) you leave me to just share the usuals.

Since I don't have the .AVI to examine...

I can't give you an exact solution but note the usuals.

If it's a copyrighted work, please don't send me the link to it.
