In some way to get the info off of it. If it is a bootable drive then install it as the master drive. If the drive is not bootable then it will have to be installed as a slave to the master. You will need A CD/RW or DVD/RW drive to put the data onto a disk and a program that does that such as Nero or CDBURNER XP PRO, You can google for both, the latter is free. If the data is small you can also use a flash drive.
Once the info is saved you can use the XP/OS cd to format the drive, that will clean the drive but not completely to anyone that wants to go to great lenghts to recover the info. I use DBAN (google for it) to wipe the drive. If you want you can go to my profile and send an email for additional help but it's up to you.
I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place. I have a friend whose computer is at least 10 years old and can't afford to buy a new computer. He said his monitor and keyboard is fine. I need to know how to copy all the information off a harddrive that I'm not using? I also need to know how to delete all of my information off that hard drive after I have copied everything? I want there to be nothing on the hard drive when I give it to him.
Thank you for any assistance you can give me.
