copy to DVD +R DL and Edit and convert dvr-ms files

I am interested in getting a freeware program that will allow me to copy my video files to double layered DVDs on my Windows XL laptop. Anyone know of any?

Also, I need a simple editor/conversion program that will let me edit and then convert my dvr-ms files to other formats
