General discussion

Copy mini DV to DVD

Mar 23, 2005 11:05AM PST

I have a Panasonic PV-GS15 camcorder and was trying to transfer over using NERO Vision Express 2, but NERO was locking up when I tried.
I was trying to use a USB to do this, but I am wondering if I have to use a DV Firewire in stead and that is why it was not working.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Look around.

You see too many reports of USB plus Nero = Lockups. As such I don't offer any fix or support for this combo.

Try some other approach.

OK thanks; would you recommend me using a different software or buying a firewire to transfer?

Thanks again.

I am running on a Win98SE system is there a firewire that would definetly work with the NERO I have?

Thanks Again!

No.

I haven't found Nero DVD creation to be stable. Try something else.

Also noteworthy is that 98se (and don't complain to me when I write this) is not a suitable OS due to that 4GB filesize limit and "resources".

You have to live with those issues and reboots too. I can't offer a solid fix for that. I will share that my setups of XP, Windows 2000 and other software are "very nice."

OK, thank you very much for you input and help. I will try another software and maybe a firewire as well.

I have been timid in upgrading to XP, in case large problems would occur, but I agree it is a superior OS.

Just so you know.

98se is great for many things. Just that video editing runs smack dab into that 4GB filesize limit and resources.

To recap:

1. Transfer via Firewire for best picture and such.

2. Nero's DVD software is fine if it works, but if not I've seen people waste months futzing. Lesson? Change horses sooner than later.
