cookies keep coming back

Feb 26, 2004 4:45AM PST

after using ad aware and spybot I get a message from ad aware but not spybot that i have 8 tracking cookies, and i quarantine them and eliminate them.
When i run ad aware again the same 7 cookies are back some of them when all i do is turn on internet explorer and go no where.
How is that these cookies keep coming back after i eliminate them and why does spybot not identify them?
Your help would be appreciated,
Thank you
Hart

Each time you open IE, you will get tracking cookies. I changed my privacy settings and that helped a lot. Open IE, go to tools then internet options. Click on the privacy tab, custom then advanced. Put a check mark in the box next to override automatic cookie handling. I have it set to block third party cookies. Now instead of having dozens of tracking cookies each time I run AdAware or Spybot, I may have one or two.

Hart, the short answer is that Spybot and AdAware have different scanning engines that do not look for the same things in all cases, nor do they consider the same things to be spyware. That's why it's a good idea, IMO, to run both (as long as both are kept properly up to date, that is).
