Feb 15, 2007 11:08PM PST

I did this found in a Google Search but got only TIF but no cookies. I do I get to cookies so that I can keep the ones I want and delete the rest. Vista IE7. I did with XP and IE6?

Re: Cookies folder is only a shortcut in windows explorer view, WHY?

Enable show hidden files and folders and go to
Users\YourAccountName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Wind ows\Temporary Internet
Files
To show hidden files, Click Organize > Folder Options > Show hidden files

Adminsitrator

First of all you need to have administrator access. once you have that in the folder options choose show hidden files and show hidden system files. Then go to C:/ and you will see the folder cookies but it will not let you access it. Right click on it and click the security tab. once you have done that click advanced at the bottem. this will open a new windows, click the tab at the top called "Owner" and click edit. this will open a new window again. click your user name and click ok on all pop up windows. right click again on the folder cookies and click the security tab and click edit, click your user name and click ok on all pop up windows. this should then allow you to access the cookies folder.
I am sorry but i wrote this in a rush so if it does not work or is not clearly explained please reply to this post and i will explain it more clearly and point by point in the next day.
Thank and let me know how it goes.

I followed your instructions. The only thing is after I right clicked Cookies I had to click properties first and then Security tab. Did everything else, owner, edit user name OK.
But when I went back to c\cookies it said not accessible.

I was trying to find the cookies folder and found this info, but it wasnt working for me. So i find another config that must be unchecked.
On the folder options and then on the View tab, find the option that reads "hide protected operating system files(recomended)" and uncheck it. With this and the show hidden files option checked, you should be able to seethe cookies folder on "c:/users/YourUserName/Appdata/roaming/microsoft/windows/cookes"

=)
