Converting Realplayer to MP3

Dec 2, 2005 7:12AM PST

Trying to convert an rm file to mp3
When I try to convert an rm file to mp3 using dMC, I get this message: "The CODEC required to decompress 'C:\My Music\filename.rm' could not be opened. DirectShow filter for '.rm' not installed, or Audio File Corrupt."
The audio file plays using realplayer so I don't think it is corrupt. The file is 24 MB and 45 minutes long.
The first time I tried to convert it, it worked except that it only converted 5 minutes (7 mb) worth then stopped. I re-installed and now I get this message. It will convert process the file I already converted and reconvert it from MP3 to MP3 as a test. I don't understand the difference between a codec and a filter. Under dMC configuration, Installed Decoders, directshow decoder, I have Release 1 .ra;.rm;.ram;.ac3;.aa

I must be missing a filter. Any suggestions?
