Converting NTSC to PAL for the UK

Jun 8, 2006 11:28AM PDT

I have a DVD of my friend's wedding. It was encoded in NTSC. Can anyone give me any advice on how to convert it to PAL so I can send it to relatives in the UK? Thank you very much

Just FYI...

If they have a PC it plays just fine.

Converting SOURCE material is a snap such as http://www.gromada.com/videomach.html but you claim to have a DVD which will entail RIPPING the content to some AVI file then you may as well encode it again in PAL. Ulead or what tool you used can make a PAL DVD if you change it's settings.

This is not an offer to give step by step guides but to note the tools used.

Converting a DVD to PAL

Thank you for your helpful reply. I have Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 Suite. Will this do everything I need? Including ripping it from the existing DVD and getting it into my PC so I can "resave" as a new PAL DVD?

I would try that.

I'm not using Roxio, Nero much anymore but I know that somewhere is a setting for PAL/NTSC. The trip to that PAL DVD is something like this.

1. Rip the content from the DVD (too much on google.com about that)
2. Setup Nero (what you have) to PAL and have it make a new PAL DVD.

Either it will work just fine or give up an error message.
