Tomia, Why Convert?
Feb 2, 2005 1:34AM PST

Is there some special program that will only use .wav files? Most programs that use .wav files will also use mp3. Mp3 files can be copied over directly to the new computer as a data disk and they should work fine. Simply create a data disk and burn the files as they are. Likewise, if you're trying to burn them to a CD, most burning software types, such as Nero or Roxio will convert mp3 files into normal CDA files anyway...

Hope this helps and let us know more.

Tomia, Sorry, I'm Not Familiar With ALL Of The Sonic ...

...software that Dell provides unless you're talking about the Adaptec/Sonic RecordNow program. If that's the case, then I prefer Roxio's Easy CD Creator but my customers and my business use it exclusivley...Some prefer Nero's Burning software. It really becomes a decision on what you like and what you're going to do with it. If you like a piece of software, use it. But explore the options for other brands, free or paid for, which might do it better.

Which EXACT Sonic programs are you using? Does the Sonic software burn CD's for you or does it only assist in preparing and listening to music? Is this link the product you are talking about?. There are a number of music "players" available, WinAmp, RealPlayer, Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and others that might fit the bill.

Let us know more about what you're trying to do with the software.

Hope this helps.

Converting Audio Files

There is a great little FREE program you should be able to download from CNET, called CDex. You can convert from mp3 to wav, and wav to mp3 in just seconds. I'd keep your files in mp3, as all players will read both formats, and mp3's are smaller files.
