I may be looking at the wrong camera, but when I searched for you camera it came up as a VHS-C not 8mm. If I'm correct, then you camera only has analog RCA output connections, and you will need a video card that accepts video input into your computer and edit software, or you need to buy a DVD recorder that will connect directly to your camcorder. The DVD recorder option is the easiest, but you can't easily edit the video to make a custom version. If all you have is a tape or two, having an outside company may be the cheapest and easiest, but from personal experience, the DVDs my cousin had made at a local camera store didn't play on some DVD players. If you have dozens of tapes to convert, and if you are interested in editing the footage as well as adding your own titles and music, then you need to install a video card on your PC. If you have a Mac, you need an external Analog-to-Digital converter box like the ones made by Canopus which will convert the analog camera signal to digital and you will import it via a Firewire cable.
I would like to know how I can convert my 8 mm JVC Camcorder GR-AXM225 camera film to DVD. I understand that you can pay to have this done but I would rather do it myself if possible. Is there some sort of cable or device I need to purchase?
