Question

converting 4.1 system into 5.1 system

Aug 6, 2015 10:59AM PDT

hi,
i have a sony 4.1 music system bought in 1999. the model number is hcd-vx8. The system sounds amazing but my kids have torn the speakers. So i bought this new pioneer 5.1 speaker set which includes 2 floorstanding, 2 surround, 1 sub woofer and 1 centre channel speaker. I connected all to my old system and it sounds amazing but to my surprise i realised that my system is 4.1 channel, which means it has connectivity for 2 main speakers, 2 surround and 1 sub woofer. But it has no separate channel for centre speakers.

so can anyone help me a way out to connect the centre channel speakers to this old 4.1 sony system. I don't want to spend more money in buying a new 5.1 av reciever as i have already spent enough on the speakers and also to my surprise i found that the old sony system sounds far better than the new recievers (denon, yamaha) i tested during the demo with the same pioneer speakers.

please some brainstormer out there, help me

Sorry, you do need to purchase a new receiver in order to be able to enjoy 5.1. It does not offer the decoding/processing anyway.

The center is being reproduce with the front 2 speakers. If it's amazan, save the center speaker for the future.
