convert wps to doc

Dec 8, 2004 7:46AM PST

Someone sent me several .wps files attached to an email. Can I open them with Word? I'm running Office 2000.

http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=WPS says it's Microsoft Works. It's not unlikely there's a filter for that somewhere on your Office CD. But you might have to install it.

Also read through http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6142-0.html?forumID=5&threadID=36785&messageID=428763. Also I doubt if the reference in the second post is relevant.

And, most of all, why ask us? Just try it, and see what happens.

If you can't manage it, the best thing to do is contact the sender and ask him to resend the files in rtf-format.

Did you have a look already at the conversion filters offered by Setup if you run it from the Office CD? I expect Microsoft has something to offer in that respect.

Also check the converters offered at http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/officeupdate/CD010225831033.aspx
"The Works 6.0 Converter allows you to convert word processor documents created in Microsoft Works 6.0 to Microsoft Word and other Works programs. Specifically, this converter works with Works 2000, 4.5, and 4.x, and Word 2002, 2000, and 97."
That might be what you're looking for.
