Conversion to HTML before the expiration date?

Jul 28, 2005 2:25PM PDT

After several days of searching for information and comparing mostly free web site editors, I decided to try Web Site Maker V2. However, it downloaded with a 14-day trial period.

My planned web site is a simple one and it should be finished in another few days. The proprietary format for Web Site Maker is WSS. I plan to also save my web site in HTML. Will that allow me to continue editing my site even after the Web Site Maker trial period ends? Or, in practical terms, will saving my site in HTML mean the original WSS code gets scrambled and I must redesign my site?

Only as an allied question, would anyone suggest a fully-free web editor that is simple to use (Drag & Drop and WYSIWYG?) and that comes with good-looking templates? Web Site Maker isn't bad, but I just don't need to purchase it now.

I've never really worked with WYSIWYG editors, but I believe that as long as you have the HTML code, there should be no problems.

Thanks. What program did you use . . .

. . . to develop your web site? First time I've seen a grayscale site. Looks good.

Aside from the program you might have used - unless you typed the whole thing from code - do you know any simple but effective web creation software programs?

For the actual site I used Photoshop CS to design it and for coding I just looked at my slices and stuck it together accordingly :S... I was in a hurry though so I didn't have much time to work out the slicing so that it was expandible.

As to the second question, I've always just kinda stuck to notepad. Not because I think its better than other programs, but because I dont really like WYSIWYG editors and notepad's free Silly I also use Notepad++ for coding, another free one which comes with syntax highlighting and line numbering which is great for php.
