General discussion

control iTunes from keyboard shortcuts

Nov 15, 2005 12:34AM PST

Hi everyone. I usually use my pc to play songs while I am doing something else on it. I used to play them with windows media player a long time ago until I discovered iTunes which I like much more and is my current choice. Well I saw a little difference. When I used Windows Media player, and minimized it, I could use the embedded shortcuts of my keyboard to control the playback (stop/play/pause/next/previous) even if the application was out of focus. I recently saw that I cannot use these shorcuts with iTunes unless the window is opened-up at the front. If I click to another window (eg: web browser) then the controlls on the keyboard don't work anymore. Is there any setting or something which I am missing, or do I need some sort of application running in the background. Maybe some of you will suggest me to use the iTunes toolbar but I would prefer something which doesn't involve using the mouse.

Thanks

Samuel.
