For Bob I have done all 5 test for parsites and defrag the system and have had no shut down since but it is still too soon to tell but at least a step in the right direction. I will keep you informed. Thanks for all your advice.

For Bob you were right it is still not cured. The shut downs are still happening only once aday and not every day. this is happening very close to 2:45PM. I am begining to believe this is a softwere problem. Maybe something is calling for am update on the net and when not able is rebooting. I don't have any scheduled tasks in my system tools. Is there someway to find out if some program is causing this problem.

Do you have a software firewall installed? A firewall such as ZoneAlarm (free edition), Kerio or Sygate will monitor/block outgoing traffic. The firewall log should indicate what is trying to get out.
You may want to check what is running at startup. One of those is probably the culprit if you don't have any scheduled tasks. Check each program that is running in the background to see if it has autoupdate enabled.
I'm serious. It's not so much that it makes a difference, but imagine the poor soul that lived next to some metal stamping plant. The electrical grid would sag as the next shift poured in.
No software we know of could have cured that one.
