Question

Contacts slow to Mail

Oct 4, 2012 5:38AM PDT

Since OS X 10.2.8 typing a name in the "TO" field, causes the beach ball to appear for several seconds. It may not be the OS update but does anyone know how to stop it? Is there a preference that should be trashed? The link to Contacts is so very slow even if the beach ball doesn't appear.

Slow contacts to Mail
Oct 4, 2012 8:25AM PDT

I am getting mail, that is not the problem. I appears as if when I type in a few letters of someone's name in the "To" field, mail searches and searches my Contacts (with the spinning beach ball) until it finally brings the contacts in that match the few letters I type. It also gives me the spinning beach ball even if I type in the whole name.
I have read the linked comments from Apple Discussions.

But I don't see where you used the advice given. In that discussion some wrote it cured it.
