I changed machines before I got it to work. In my case I changed from an AMD to an Intel chip and chipset.
Seems extreme but I needed it to work.
Best of luck finding your cure.

I have a problem contacting Symantec Support. There seems no way to tell them of my problem, and their automated support assistant is not of any use. This is what I would like to ask Symantec:
[ I have WinFax Pro 10.02 installed on a machine running Windows XP Pro SP1.
WinFax Pro works beautifully except for one problem, when on automatic receive:
When a non-fax call is received, i.e. a phone call, Win fax will try to receive it automatically but when the calling party cancels the call, WinFax does not disconnect. The fax console still show it as receiving the call. Cancelling it manually also does not cancel it, even if the console is closed. The only way is to reboot. As a result of this problem, fax calls are missed, because the calling party receives a busy signal.
I have tried the free online support-automated support assistant. WinFax was detected and the technical details were:
Operating System Windows XP
Operating System Version 2600
Service Pack Service Pack 1.1.0
OS Language en-us;English (United States)
Available Memory 256508
Available Disk Space 24015
CPU Type 586
Internet Explorer Version 6.0.2800.1106
Product Name WinFax
Product Version 10.0.2000.214
LiveUpdate Version 2.5.56.0
However, the automated support assistant did not find any issues with my computer.
I am not able to find anything at the knowledge base. Please help.
Thank you. ]
Perhaps other users of WinFax have a solution ?
Thanks.
