Constant dropouts during instant message session

Apr 11, 2005 1:19AM PDT

I have successfully used Trillian Basic for two years, instant messaging over the Yahoo and AOL networks. There is one family member with whom I would like to talk every day, but we can't have a conversation without a whole lot of this (never knowing if the other person got the message we sent):

*** "user" signed off at Fri Apr 08 08:57:36 2005.
*** "user" signed on at Fri Apr 08 08:59:55 2005.
*** "user" signed off at Fri Apr 08 09:06:32 2005.
*** "user" signed on at Fri Apr 08 09:06:34 2005.

She claims she can chat with other users without this difficulty, and I never have problems with any other user. Neither of us experiences any other type of network failure in our day-to-day operations.

Has anyone else ever seen this? Any ideas?

My setup: Trillian Basic 3.1 Build 121, Windows XP SP2, 512 MB RAM, LAN internet over T1.

Hers: AOL Instant Messenger 5.9, Windows 2000 SP4, 256 MB RAM, broadband Internet (exact type unknown).
