Console Wars: Which is better

Dec 26, 2006 2:18AM PST

So far as i know, there are three kinds of gamers in the world (well 4 but I won't count them here.): Nintendo fans, Sony Fans, and Microsof Fans. Neither of them are entirely wrong or right.

These will be divided into 6 sections.

1. Nintendo: They have the amazing ability to innovate. Look at the DS and Wii! Touch screens and motion sensors! Amazing right? Your playing a first person shooter on either one. With the touch screen, you tap it and it shoots, letting you really get into the game. Withthe wii, your controller BECOMES the gun and you shoot straight through your enemy. Other than that, if you don't like the controller, you can use the gamecube controller for many of the games instead. Other than THAT it plays some odd and huge # of years of classic gamers most of who, if you counted them out now, are still alive. This helps older gamers get back to nintendo to play the games they played in there younger days like super mario world for the NES.

2. Microsoft: Having some of the most intense gfx you can find, this thing is amazing. when competing against the GC and PS2, it delivered the best performance of the three. now as a next Gen system, everything has improved and online play has never been better. The 360's controller fits nicely and is comfortable and is definately still a contender. With the amazing GFX, the 360 could very well be the best of the three.

3. Sony: beyond incredible gfx make this system one of the HUGEST MONSTERS OF CONSOLES EVER(sry for caps). it is more powerful than the 360 and could therefore pump out better gfx. They have a six-axis controller and the ps3 can play bluray for those who have HD TV's(like me Grin) and is even better for those who have a home theater w/ surround sound(like me).

4. nintendo's faults:
gfx-wise, they pail in comparison to the others
doesn't play hi-def
if i'm missing anything please inform me Grin

5. microsoft's faults:
gfx wise, almost as good as ps3(not really bad but it makes the ps3 better on that)
not much else...

6.sony's faults:
they half-assed nintendo's idea for motion-sensor controls.
doesn't play all games backwards.

If you see, i have listed most of the good sides and bad sides to all three. I have a home theatre system(10 ft wide screen) and surround sound. It plays in Hi-def too.
you'd think i'd pick the PS3 right?

WRONG!

What about Xbox?
nope.
Wii wins for me. I have alot of friends. Would you rather take your friends to your home theater to shock them out of there minds w/ high quality stuff, or have fun with them and play some tennis?
By the way, nintendo is not out. It's way in. It's outselling PS3 by a ton!
x-box fans are worried about PS3 bcause of its gfx so they put it down.
nintendo fans are constantly defending themselves and showing off what they have
sony fans are afraid that nintedo will kick their asses, so they attack nintendo. they also attack Xbox fans for attacking them.

The Subject

Is this guy for real? It's been proven that the 360 has greater graphics capabilities and the ps3 has better cpu power...the 360 doesn't have better graphics because it has more games, it has better graphics because it has a better graphics processor.

And If the ps3 was so good, Assasins Creed, GTA, and a bunch of other games would have remained Sony exclusive instead of having their manufactures go over to the 360.

That, and ps3's are selling like crap. There were 6 of them sitting on the shelf at the local game store. I'd rather take the $600 can put in into something useful.

About Gears of War

Although PS3 can project these great images. Why is Gears of War coming out for 480p. Which is Nintendo Wii resolution, this doesn't sound to powerful to me for such a popular game.

360 is the best

PS3 has impressive specs but it has no good games beyond Resistance and won't have any good games till at least next Xmas. Having a Blu-ray player is a good addition for the price that you pay, but no one that is serious about home theater watches movies on a game console, never have and never will.

360 has much better games and online support. Heck, Gears of War looks better than any "1080p" game on the PS3 currently. And Xbox Live blows the free Sony service out of the water. I can't believe the Sony service didn't include a universal friends list...idiotic if you ask me.

HDMI 1.3 support in the PS3 is a big selling point for me, but right now there aren't any affordable AV receivers that support HDMI 1.3, so then you have to run a digital optical cable to from your PS3 to your receiver to get surround sound...which defeats one of the main purposes of HDMI (one cable for both audio/video).

All graphical comparisons have shown there to be little to no difference between the 360 and the PS3, so that argument is moot.

One of the funniest and most shocking things is the lack of a scalar chip in the PS3. Basically if you have a HDTV that runs in 1080i and not 720p, you will only be able to play games in 480p...yeah way to go Sony, screw over all the early HDTV adopters.
