General discussion

consistent size of screen

Jul 19, 2010 12:07PM PDT

Why is it that when I click on a website I get a smaller screen than the one I am presently on and always have to take the time to click on the maximize button.

I am sure I must have unknowingly changed a setting because when I first set up my Gateway SX 2840-01 Windows 7 Home Premium system, 64-bit with IE8, I did not have this problem.

Thanks for your help!

Smaller screen or smaller browser window?
Jul 19, 2010 9:02PM PDT

Do you mean a smaller browser window pops up? If so, which browser?

When does this happen? If I click on a link in Internet Explorer, the link often opens in the same window and therefore remains the same size. On occasion the link opens a new window, and sometimes that new window is smaller. If I don't like the size I just drag the corners of the new window until I get the size I like.

How do I have an Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7) window open in the maximized position every time? This is also applicable to Internet Explorer 8 (IE Cool.

Here is another possible fix for your issue:
First, open a webpage.
Then, stretch it out to fullsize but do not use maximize.
Choose any link on that webpage and right-click open in a new window.
Stretch that second window out to the desired size- don't use maximize.
Close the first IE window. Then close that second resized window.

I hope that helps!
