Connects and sends data but does not receive any

Apr 15, 2005 2:54PM PDT

Dell Inspiron600 m running Windows xp sp2
connects to wireless or wired connection but does not go on the internet.

Firewalls (windows and norton) have been disabled -- no change. Other laptops can access the router with no problems.

I remember seeing something like this while on dial-up - where it connects but does nothing else -- but I do not remember the solution...

I have tried re-installing the protocols

still nothing

Ideas??

I know I've had this problem with dial-up. I just cannot remember what the solution was...It's a setting somewhere...

This is a classmates laptop and it shows connected but does not receive any information at all. It shows that packets were sent but none received.

I'm hoping somone else can remember how to fix this.
As said before -- even with all firewalls (Norton and windows) disabled still has problem.

Could this be virus/adware/spyware related? Her machine is infested. I'm going to throw every advised program from this board against them later today at our study group meeting...
