Connectivity Issues between Wireless/Printer

by whizzer0120 / January 22, 2012 11:43 PM PST

Hello,

I recently installed a Linksys E4200 router in the office where I work and am having trouble reconciling it with the wireless printer. The device is a Brother MFC7840w. When I first installed it, the signal did not carry from the router to the printer until I brought the two devices closer together.

Last week the printer kept repeating the message "Connection NG" or "Check Connection." No settings have been changed on either machine and this error message kept popping up. The printer then got onto the network, but then petered out again.

I have checked other forums which said to adjust settings on the printer's wireless which has not worked. One suggestion that I have not tried is adjusting the security settings on the router itself. I have been reading up on this, but I want to see if I can get any other opinions because this is a small business/home office and my employer needs the Internet to always be functioning. My fear is changing a setting that creates a larger connectivity issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
