The just say that i should check my firewall and my connection. Also the say that I have to send them a diagnostic of the connection, which I did. I'm starting to wonder if there are services or processes associated with iTunes. What do you think?

Check this link Access to Apple's iTunes goes bananas

Outside of this I don't know what to tell you since it seems to be a problem on their end,its probably so busy all the time.

Connection timed out Itunes / windows
by tryntohelp / December 12, 2007 7:29 AM PST

I know your frustration, Spent hours figuring it out. "Unplug wireless, blah, blah, blah.
I too disabled my FIREWALL - DON'T IT DOESN'T HELP AND puts you at risk!
SOLUTION: I mean it, it worked.
I went into my FIREWALL - application settings tab. Inside that there are a list of programs with checked boxes. Itunes box was checked saying "Block" Highlight it and click on modify settings, change to "allow" and apply.
Mine works and also works without removing my wireless router. I really hope this helps, let me know.

How to solve connection with ITUNES - error3259
by alicialouis / February 19, 2009 4:30 AM PST

Steps that solved 'connection timed out error - 3259

1) Turn off all virus protection and firewall

2) Connect to wireless router via ETHERNET cable (this gives a
steadier connection of about 100 mbps when compared to wireless
USB key) This is good for larger downloads e.g. a whole music album
to IPOD or software updates for IPHONE

3) If necessary when downloading from ITUNES store remove tick 'allow
simultaneous downloads'

4) I also bought a newer NETGEAR wireless router which helped with
connection speed - good for smaller downloads

I hope this helps

Got it!

Firstly, click on the Help tab above the volume selector in itunes. Click "run diagnostics". This may send you down a different route to, hopefully, a solution.
In my case, the solution was as follows: In Windows, Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings. Then unclick "Use a proxy server..." Also select "Automatically detect settings".
This worked like a charm for me.
