Connection speed

I have just did a clean install of Windows XP on friends computer: Sony PCV-RX651 Digital Studio, 1.70GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, 256MB, 80GB ultra ATA/100, CD-RW, DVD-ROM.

I have changed settings and even set it up exactly like mine, but can't get it to connect at no more than 7.2kbps. Strange part is that I connect at 28.8 and have hers at my house using my phone line.

I did see that she has something called a 1394 Met Adapter which I disabled that. She has Lucent Win Modem. Can't update drivers or anything else......7.2 is just to plain slow.

Any ideas would surely be appreciated and Thank You in advance for your help. Happy
