connection issues

Jul 5, 2004 4:11AM PDT

Hi.I have verizon DSL.. the main puter hookup is downstairs (windows xp, dell )
It is hooked up to a linskys wireless router. I am upstairs on my pc (dell, windows xp) I have a linksys wireless B adapter 2.4 ghz..
on the scroll bar it says the connection is excellent but when I am on aol friends and family that try to instant message me say I am ignoring them ( some I should) anyhow, it's frustrating because it seems like I get booted momentarily or something.
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated..

One of the problems with WiFI is that it's not that reliable. Or the other issue is that the industry didn't tell the total truth about how good/bad it can be...

I would try this. Limit the connection speed to 1 to the next higher baud rate and see if it stays more firmly connected.

How.

There is no standard on how to do this. I see on my laptop that Linksys changed the interface GUI so it's not in the same place. But it should be some CONFIGURATION which will have the RF CHANNEL and speed.
