And line of sight means you are breaking another rule to push the limits. In such cases we use cellular internet and a shared dropbox to share a file like this.
As to your proposed solution it's not reliable but might work one time and not the next. You have to test such a system at each setup.
I currently have two Notebooks connected over a 100m Cat 6 cable but want to change this to a wireless solution and am looking for advice on the required hardware I need.
The Notebooks are setup outdoors in rural areas and although would generally not have direct line of sight to each other would be within a 10m window of the line of sight from primary.
I do not have the option of placing any devices to boost signal other than at the location of the Notebooks due to unavailability of power between the two locations.
These are not permanent installations but setup on the day and then removed and installed at new location.
They do not need high performance as basically just checking for updates to an XML file and sending contents over connection.
Can I get away with a router on only one Notebook or would I need to also include an external USB wireless card with antenna on other Notebook ?
Not looking for cheapest solution, seeking recommendation on required quality hardware to meet requirement.
Thanks in advance.
