Connecting TV to laptop on windows XP - sound but no vison

by JillH / April 23, 2004 12:07 AM PDT

I am using a Dell inspiron 5000e running a newly installed XP pro. I tried to follow similar steps to Windows 2000 which I had set up keyboard short cuts to get it to connect to the tv but the options don't seem to be in the same place. One of my students has looked at it and says he has options for a secnd monitor that I dont have. I can hear the sound through the TV speakers but cant get vision. Everything was working perfectly 5 minutes mefore installing XP so I am quite sure it's not the tv or the cables. Any ideas please?
Jill

That [missing] Tab is from video drivers. You should look for them at Dell's site.

Good Luck,

Cetin,
Yes that worked perfectly! Thank you so much! I would never have thought of it being Dell drivers that I needed. Now I am wondering what else I am missing of Dell drivers since I formatted!
Thank you so much!

I also have a Dell Inspiron 5000 (not that it matters).

If you go to Dell's website, Support, and enter in either your Express Code or Service Tag number, you will find all the drivers and patches needed for your particular Dell computer. At that time you select which OS you are now using and you'll see all the pertinent files.

Try it, you'll figure it out.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
